HOPE Parent Resource Center
Who We Are
The HOPE Parent Resource Center is a project of the Family Support Network/HOPE and is a federally funded Community Parent Resource Center. Our mission is to support families who have children with special needs to:
- Be involved in their child's education & development
- Learn about their child's & families' rights
- Feel more supported in the community
- Have more positive feelings about having a child with special needs
- Help their child learn, grow, play, & make friends
How We Help
Training
HOPE PRC offers workshops on various topics including:
- Child and family rights
- Disabilities
- Treatments and interventions
- Effective communication
Support
Support is provided for families based on their individual needs and requests. Some examples include:
- Support Groups
- One-on-one Emotional Support
- Parent to parent matching
- Attend family appointments and meetings
- Support Parent training
- Support families who have children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Information
- Parent Packets
- Printed information on disabilities, research, treatments, and interventions
- Local, state and national resources
Lending Library
The library is housed at the HOPE Parent Resource Center, which is located in house 323 on the campus of the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. Families are welcome to stop by and look over the materials or call the office [(828) 438-6540] for a list of materials which includes:
- Children's Books
- Educational books and videos for adults
- Activity kits
- Toys, games, videos and music
- Educational computer programs
