MEET THE STAFF
Vickie Dieter
Vickie Dieter has been the FSN/HOPE Director for 30 years. Her favorite part of her job is helping families and schools work together on behalf of children with disabilities. She has two adult children with special healthcare needs. Vickie lives in Hickory and has strong family ties in Burke and Caldwell Counties.
Sharon Elliott
My name is Sharon Elliott. I am the NICU referral specialist with the Family Support Network. Prior to joining the Family Support Network/Hope, I retired from the Children’s Developmental Services Agencies, as an Early Childhood Service Coordinator for 25+ years. My desire is to provide support for families and their children with developmental challenges. I am also the director of Walkin’ Roll Activities League, which provides social opportunities for children and adults with special needs.
Millie Ramos
Milagros “Millie” Ramos, has been with Family Support Network for about 10 years serving the families with children with disabilities and special medical needs. Millie supports the families navigating the Special Education system and community resources. Millie is the mom for Joseph, who is a young adult with exceptional needs. She also has an older son and two grandbabies that were born as miracle premie babies. Millie feels grateful at all times for the opportunity to raise a family in this beautiful mountain region.
Samantha Parrow
Samantha Parrow is a Family Support Coordinator with FSN/HOPE and certified Stepping Stones Triple P Provider. She has been affiliated with FSN first as a parent and then as a professional for over 13 years when her son was first diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her lived experience also comes from navigating the medical, behavioral health and mental health services and supports for her 3 children over a span of over 27 years. Samantha is passionate about education and working with the families of children/youth with disabilities to amplify and give value to their voice, gain equal access to resources and support and to be included in their communities in meaningful and valued ways alongside their typical peers.
Deidra Hicks
Deidra Hicks serves as a Family Support Staff Employee. She has been affiliated with FSN/Hope as a parent, mentor, served on the board of directors, and as an officer for 20 years! Her son has several diagnosis. Deidra is passionate about finding and sharing resources with those in her community. She started bowling league for kids/adults with special needs. Helps with several local support groups (one autism and one TBI), she has helped with Catawba County Special Olympics serving as Coach, chaperone, and area local coordinator. She helps with walk-in roll activities league as well. She has also and still works as a direct support professional/habilitation technician for over 15 years with several local companies. And has worked with many various kids and adults with lots of different diagnoses.
